True caller is an app that allows people to look up phone numbers to know the identity of the caller. They boast of about 1.6 billion users of the app.
As much as the app may prove to be helpful, there are a lot of things that can go wrong once your number is out there in the open. If having your number out there is your desire, then you are in the good hands. However, if you are cautious about your number being accessible to a lot of people, it would be better to unlist it.
Sometimes your number can be flagged as spam in the app by people you call or those who have your number, either intentionally or accidentally. Others can flag your number maliciously for other reasons maybe like business competion, friendship or relationship gone sour or even thinking that it is a way of blocking you. When flagged as spam, you lose the respect and trust that people may have for you.
For some cases, the app displays location and even directions for the number. This can solicit a lot of spam and unnecessary telemarketers. Not that telemarketers are bad in anyway, but knowing your exact location details can be worrying.
Maybe you don't use the app and you think that your number is listed? You may be wrong. Someone who has your number may have allowed the app to access their phonebook and upload your number. Even worse, one of your friends may have been generous enough to add information regarding your number.
The best thing you can do is unlist the number from the app. Incase you had created an account with them, you first have to deactivate the account.
In android, open the app, click on the menu on the top left side got to Settings>About and then click Deactivate the account.
On windows phone go to Settings > Help > Deactivate account
On Iphone click on the gear icon on top right corner then About True Caller and then click Deactivate Truecaller.
